Jasper Rock & Jade - Pottery

Julie Anne McMath
Julie Anne McMath expresses her refined and original style in a wide range of dynamic and sophisticated pottery. Julie creates wheel thrown and constructed pottery with the finest of craftsmanship. Her work is delightful to use and is a feast for the eyes and the table alike.

"The intent of my work is to inspire you; whether you are using it for food, flowers or display, my hope is that it will always encourage you to celebrate and enrich the beauty in your domestic life each day. My work is colorful, with an elegance in form and shape which often incorporates playful movement. Each of my pieces is functional, but can also be enjoyed as piece of art in its own right.”

Julie creates delightful pottery that is as functional as it is beautiful; each piece is infused with personality and life. Currently, she can be found working in her sunny, mountain-view studio in Jasper, Alberta.

Darrel Hancock

Darrel graduated from Douglas College in 1977. For 5 years from 1980 to 1985 Darrel set up and managed a studio, (Mainstream Pottery) which sold his work across B.C. and Alberta.

Darrel has taught pottery at the Shadbolt Institute, Plas Des Arts and the Surrey Arts Center.

Susan Dean

Susan Dean was born in Edmonton Alberta, and now makes her home on a farm near Caslan, two hours northeast of the city. The serenity of the country is the ideal setting to foster her creative spirit.

Susan learned to throw clay in 1989 and has been a self supporting full time artist since the mid 1990's. She is particularly drawn to types of firing that have an element of surprise. Gas firing, raku and fuming all have their own textures and qualities in the various glazes, clays and methods that make each piece truly unique.

Susan says 'It seems to me that in our ever increasing cosmopolitan society, there is a yearning to reconnect with the earth and the elements. I think each piece of hand created pottery carries the spirit of the elements as well as a reflection of the person that created it.'
